Apollo — Service
In October 2012, on a deployment in Afghanistan, I was blown up by a command wired IED and as a result lost both of my legs. I received Apollo in 2013 during my recovery and he was a very big part of my recovery during a dark time in my life. During recovery Apollo motivated me mentally to get out of the house everyday and gave me a sense of purpose and responsibility that I thought I had lost. Apollo assists me when walking up and down stairs, and his height and size allows me to use him as a brace for the steps, hills, and curbs. He can also assist me if I fall. Apollo also picks items up off the ground that I am unable to bend down and reach to pick up.
