Bella — Shelter
Meet Bella the black rescue lab that taught her owner to love running again. After numerous injuries, and failing to qualify for the Boston Marathon I turned to a rescue dog to help me as my enthusiasm for the sport was low. I met Bella at the Vanderburgh Humane Society and knew she be the perfect running partner. We started training when Bella turned one. We started out with a half mile. I would go out for longer runs and get her for my cool down. We built up her miles over time. We now run 35 to 45 miles a week. Bella has completed 18 half marathons and one full marathon. I always call the Race Director and ask permission for Bella to run. Bella vet approves of her running regiment. Bella never had a running injury. I started a campaign Run Bella Run to the Rescue, to raise money for the shelter and to help educate others about adopting high energy dogs. Bella has raised more than $7200 for the humane society.
