Boris — Shelter
Boris is my hero. He is an 8 to 12 year old hound/lab mix, with perhaps some Rottweiler, as others have made mention of this to me. I received Boris from a local rescue 3 years ago. At that time I was told he was 9 years old and he was from a kill shelter in Southern Ohio. Boris was found unable to walk, emaciated, covered with fleas and ticks, and with obvious trauma to his left eye, which has left him blind. The rescue pulled this old boy to give him a second chance. It was found that Boris was Lyme positive and this contributed to his condition. He recently began limping at my home and upon taking him to the vet he was x-rayed and was found to be full of buckshot and bullets. This poor boy suffered a horrible life for many years through neglect and abuse caused by people. Despite this he is the sweetest dog in the world. He loves every person he meets. He is the perfect gentleman with my other dogs, cats and birds. He has harbored no resentment for his past mistreatment. He enjoys life, long walks and plenty of love. He is truly a southern gentleman. I choose him for hero dog award for his ability to forgive. I am so grateful to the rescue group that rescued him to give this wonderful dog a second chance. He truly deserved this. If anyone is contemplating adopting an older dog, I can tell you that they are the best! They all need a second chance.
