Cassie — Shelter
So we rescued Cassie from a mans home on January 4, 2016. He knows we are dog people and said if we didn’t come and get her, he was going to slit her throat and throw her in the river. I stayed at home with my brother while my mom went to get her. She said Cassie was tied to the kitchen doorway like a noose with her mouth forced shut. He was getting ready to kill her. My mom walked in the door and brought her straight home. We took her to the the vet the next day. She weighed 45 pounds, had a very bad yeast infection on her stomach, and was scared to death of everything.
She didn’t and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. I entered her in the local 4H for basic obedience. She learned very quickly, put on weight nicely, was socialized with 60 other dogs, 60 other people and children around her, and we did agility and she excelled. When we showed at the end she got 3rd in obedience and 1st in agility. It has been 2.5 years since then and she knows so much. We have 5 other dogs and a cat. She she has such a big loving family now and loves to go hiking! She is up to 70 pounds happy and healthy. She will never know a life of pain and suffering again and everyday is getting stronger. I am very thankful for her and she has changed my life for the better. I absolutely love her.
The photo of her was from the other day. She is so proud and holds her head so high now. She is confident and that makes me humbled.
