Doodle — Emerging Hero
Although far from a pure bed Doodle was rescued from a local shelter by my wife and Pets for Patriots when my wife, realizing that I was depressed and at the end of my rope found him. Since Doodle came home with us he has been by my side constantly. When I wake up in the middle of the night he instinctively follows me around and stays by me. When I come home he is always at the window waiting for me, and when I toss and turn in bed he moves up to my face and presses himself against me for support. He seems to know when I need an uplift and he is always there with a toy of his to play fetch with and a wagging tail. The photo is one of the first we took after bringing him to the vet in order to get him cleaned up de-matted. No matter what happens he is accepting, loving and non-critical. He is a leaner and his warm comforting hugs and kisses constantly reassures me that things are good. Having been through Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan Doodle has become the perfect bridge for me with life. And this makes me very grateful to both my wife AND Pets-for-Patriots. God Bless for the work they do. I pray that you will agree so that they both can be thanked and Pets for Patriots can continue with their selfless work. I know I will remember them when I am no longer here.
