Ezekiel ( Zeke ) — Service
Ezekiel and I are battle buddies. I’ve been trying to acclimate to civilian life for many years after my military service. Nothing has worked on a continually basis like having Zeke by my side. When no one else is available I can depend on him to see me through my challenges. I’m able to get out of bed with a small purpose and he turns the day into something more special. There have been times in the past, where I haven’t left the house for weeks. Now I can focus on him and the task at hand to go grocery shopping, pay bills and try to be a productive member of society.
His never-ending abundance of energy reminds me to look beyond my disability and see the brightness that life has for me. I can be in tears one minute and he’ll sense my fears , nudge me and bring a smile to my face. In public he’s of tremendous assistance to me and at home he makes my own home seem safer abd a haven’t for healing. As team, even the unimaginable task in the past seems doable with a little help from my friend.
