Gypsy — Service
My dog Gypsy is my life-line. She is the epitome of an American Hero Dog, and a stellar Service Dog. You see, Gypsy has an uncanny gift of detecting seizures I have, and then alerting me to take anti-seizure medication. My seizures, are partial seizures, and with her help, I can quickly snap out of a seizure’s entirety, saving pain and suffering. She also senses when I am having an impending flare of pain due to the debilitating pain condition I suffer from, CRPS/RSD. (CRPS is believed to be caused by damage to, or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous system), and is rated higher on the McGill Pain Scale, than Cancer, Childbirth or amputation of a digit. She incessantly licks my affected limb, providing a massage, reducing pain and muscle spasms. There are not enough words to describe, how this tiny Dachshund, (who as you can tell by her picture, is basically the most beautiful thing ever), has changed my world, and the lives of everyone she meets. She turns non-believers into believers, and the less skeptical she encounter’s, into awestruck participants. She is not only an American Hero Dog, she is my hero, and my constant companion and friend.
