Charity Partner: Project Paws Alive, Inc.
Location: Plantation, Florida

Accelerant Detection Canine Icy is a 2 year old English Yellow Lab with the Florida Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations Division of Investigative and Forensic Services. Captain Ross Holt has been partnered up with K9 Icy after his former K9 partner Ember lost her battle with cancer on October 26, 2015. Since their partnership in January 2016, K9 Icy has made her mark within her division from compiling evidence for various arson cases to showing elementary school kids on how she sniffs out accelerants. K9 Icy’s most notable case involved the intentional fire set to the Fort Pierce Islamic Center Mosque that was attended by the gunman in the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, Omar Mateen. K9 Icy was called in as an instrumental part in the fire investigation by alerting to several points of interest that led to the collection of numerous evidence samples both at the fire scene and at the suspects residence. Sixty-five hours after the fire was set to the mosque, a conviction of Joseph Michael Schreiber was made. With numerous pieces of evidence collected by K9 Icy and other agencies, Joseph Michael Schreiber was sentenced to serve a 30-year prison sentence for the September 11 arson of the Fort Pierce Islamic Center with Florida hate crime enhancement provisions applied. ACD K-9 Icy is a true K9 hero.
