Jetson — Law Enforcement / Arson

Charity Partner: Project Paws Alive, Inc.
Location: La Plata, Maryland

Jetson is a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) accelerant detection canine. We are with the Prince George’s County, Maryland Fire/EMS Department. We have responded to over 100 critical incidents throughout the Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas. Jetson is recognized as one of the busiest accelerant detection canines in the region.

We are members of ATF’s National Response Team. We have participated in several ATF National Response Team assignments, providing valuable insight for investigators. Jetson has assisted over a dozen different law enforcement agencies and fire departments with their investigation. These investigations have ranged from child abuse cases to homicides to fatal fire scenes involving multiple victims. Many of these incidents have received extensive local and national media attention. For example, a recent high-profile incident involved a suspect that shot at police officers before setting their home on fire. Jetson’s identification of the presence of ignitable liquids was critical during the prosecution and the conviction of the defendant. Due to the nature of our work I am not able to provide more details/photos of incidents we have responded to assist. This photo displays or commitment to the community.
