Ralphie — Shelter
Ralphie is a little guy on a big mission to educate people about puppy mills and to encourage the adoption of special needs pups. He was born in a puppy mill and sold at a pet store in Nashville as a purebred Jack Russell Terrier. It wasn’t long before his owners realized that not only had the pet store been dishonest about his breeding but he was also not going to grow out of the congenital leg deformities that were caused by irresponsible breeding. Ralphie found himself on his way to a high kill shelter where a little mixed breed dog with special needs wouldn’t likely make it out alive. Thankfully he was saved by rescue group and then flown by Pilots N Paws to Michigan where a loving foster family was waiting for him. Ralphie was treated by a vet who determined that his back leg deformities could not be corrected surgically. This has turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Ralphie’s very unique look and way of getting around has opened up so many conversations about puppy mills and why special needs pups make amazing pets! Ralphie joined me in his forever home in August of 2018. I couldn’t have asked for a better dog! He got a DNA test for his first Christmas and it turns out that he’s actually a “purebred” Chihuahua/ Shi Tzu/ American Eskimo Dog /Poodle mix. He is my perfect little Ralphie!
