Samson — Service

Charity Partner: America's Vet Dogs
Location: Lincoln City, Oregon

Our story starts a few years ago, but in this picture, this hero dog is days away from finishing his four month, 2552 mile journey down the mighty Mississippi River. Samson is my personal hero because he brought me back to life and back into the activities I wasn’t able to do while improving my quality of life on a daily basis.

When I first got him I was utilizing a cane for a torn ligament and needed assistance simply walking up and down steps. through his help I was able to rehabilitate myself back to hiking long distances and back out into the adventure lifestyle I had dreamed of. He does a medical response for me alerting me to take epinephrine for a frequent anaphylactic episodes. these can cause blackouts that he also responds to until I wake up. I have a visual loss and through his attentive guide skills he has helped me travel and do things I normally would injure myself doing alone.

Samson took these skills and emBARKed on a long expedition with me down the Mighty Mississippi River paddling 2552 miles and making it from start to finish in a canoe for 4 epic months. Along this journey we got to travel to remote parts of the country where people had never seen service or guide dogs before and show them the kindness these dogs can bring into this world. It always surprises me to see populations within America afraid of dogs because they are used to fighting or aggression and not used to the amazing services heroes like Samson can provide us all.
