Maci

Enid, OK

Maci served with distinction at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Security Department, 647 Security Forces Squadron, Hawaii from August 2016 to May 2024. Over the years, Maci worked with five different handlers, contributing as a patrol explosive detector dog to various Joint Department of Defense operations. Maci dedicated countless hours to explosive detection, executing over 3,400 random antiterrorism measures and safeguarding 452 distinguished visitors, including the President of the United States, as well as 110,000 military and civilian personnel at the base.
Maci was handpicked from 18 other dog teams to lead security for a Presidential visit and responded to 35 dispatches, multiple gate-runner incidents, two bomb threats, seven medical calls, and mitigated three IEDs. Due to health issues, Maci was medically retired and reunited with his last handler, SRA Newton, thanks to American Humane and its dedicated volunteers. Now retired, Maci enjoys a joyful life in Oklahoma, filled with cuddles, belly rubs, and treats.
