Dixie Love Anderson — Shelter
This is Dixie Love and she is NOT A THROW AWAY DOG!
She was at the Navasota Animal Control for me to evaluate for recuse. She was a wild mess and full of life, but her time was up. If I didn’t take her that day she was on the euthanasia list. It was a very small shelter and the 4 th of July was coming up. They get dozens of dogs during that time. I was told the local police pick her. No problem, she jumped right into the patrol car. It’s just the kind of Pyrenees she is. At the shelter she wanted to protect all the younger pups, so they thought she was a momma. She was a mess! Personality and appearance, she was prefect. Matted hair, happy face, loving life, this girl deserved her freedom. After all it was going to be the 4th of July! She would have her life and to pursue happiness. This is America!
After securing her release, little Miss Mess jumped into my SUV. Once getting her to our vet they figured out she wasn’t as old as the shelter thought. Dixie Love, was somewhere between 5 and 6 months old,
At the time, I was taking care of my mom who had Alzheimer. After cleaning up Dixie we stopped by the memory care for my mom! This wild and crazy pup became a calm and loving hug for all of those people who didn’t recognize themselves but remembered Love. She sit calmly for each hug like had done she did it every day. I was amazed. She became a regular visitor at memory care. She not only helped the residents but helped me through a tough time of dealing with Alzheimer.
