Fiona — Therapy
Fiona is a hard working therapy dog for two non-profit behavioral health programs. She was rescued in June 2018 with the plan to train with her therapist mom to work with children and adolescents. Fiona was born for this and helped her mom enter into the field of Animal Assisted Therapy. Fiona helped her mom achieve her long time dream to bring the joys and benefits of utilizing animals in counseling.
In the photo, Fiona is posing in front of a bulletin board, created by some of the kids she works with. The board highlights how she has helped them in therapy. Responses ranged from providing emotional support, helping kids overcome their fear of dogs and feeling accepted. Fiona works in both individual and group counseling sessions.
A recent leg injury has not stopped Fiona. She has a passion for helping others and worked hard at physical therapy to return to work. This struggle has helped serve as an excellent example of resiliency and motivation to all the children she works with.
