Lady (Furchelle) — Shelter
Lady represents in every sense of the word ‘shelter/rescue.’ She was surrendered by the daughter of her human (the human had to go into memory care.) Lady was terrified of the surroundings and was huddled in a corner of the pen area. The shelter personnel said she would not eat or drink she was so frightened.
I went over to the pen and introduced myself to Lady. I told her she was so sweet and I was sorry her human had to go away. Lady sat in her huddle position but seemed as though she understood every word I was sharing with her.
I explained I had been removed from my home in Panama City, Florida by Hurricane Michael and felt frightened and forsaken too. Again, Lady appeared to understand me. As I walked away from the pen to walk some other dogs, Lady walked over to the edge of the pen and rose up on her little back legs and beckoned me back with her little front paws. She had me forever with her recognition of understanding my needs as I understood hers.
On March 12, 2019 Lady officially ‘got me.’ It’s like the two of us have been together forever.
I am bipolar two and suffer from PTSD after the Hurricane. Although Lady is not official, in every way she is my emotional support. My therapist said without a doubt, Lady and I were meant for each other. I love my fur girl so very much. She is my constant companion. We totally ‘get one another.’
A senior, shelter/rescue has given me a reason to live again. Lady Furchelle is my heart.
