Mork — Shelter

Location: Lomita, California

Mork was rescued from a meat truck in China by Harbin SHS and brought to the US by Road Dogs & Rescue.

Mork and his chubby chibby chops have gained fun popularity due to his resemblance to a certain baby Star Wars character, but more importantly, his story has become one of inspiration for anyone struggling through dark times. Who would have thought a dog destined for death far across the world, could wind up living the good life in SoCal?!

Mork truly is a little Hero of Light. His journey shows the resilience of shelter and rescue animals to come from the worst of situations, and still be able to live joyfully in the moment. It took time for Mork to decompress from an old life lived in a cage. But now the reward of rescue is not just seeing Mork chase his squeaky ball and do his chicken feet dance – it’s seeing the happiness he brings to others, too!

The messages that Mork gets from people to say how he has helped them with their anxiety and depression are truly touching – and all the more relevant during Covid.

People are struggling, and need hope and connection. Mork is a reminder of possibilities, and to live in joy and gratitude. The smiles Mork brings to so many is more than I could ever have imagined. Through him, we can see how much community and kindness matter. The world is definitely a better place when we are a bit more like Mork – sharing joy, love and wonder. That’s what I call a true American Hero Dog!
