Pandora — Therapy
I have been asked by an activities director every time I visit, “Have you submitted Pandora to the Hero Dog Awards” , so here it is.
Pandora became a therapy dog after she herself went through her own illness. We live on the St Lucie river in Stuart , Florida and have been plagued with toxic discharges from Lake Okeechobee for years. She became deathly ill from a bite of a dead catfish and spent 4 days in the hospital. We soon found that other dogs became sick and went to the media – print and tv to warn the public. After her recovery she was not only a therapy dog but she became a clean water advocate. Pandora and I attend meetings where we share what happened to her and the 5 other dogs. Because of her size and good behavior I can take her anywhere, including the Fl dept of health, Fl dept of environmental protection, and various legislators in Tallahassee. I was told she was the cutest lobbyist ever seen walking the halls in Tallahassee. Pandora has met our Governor and is on a first name basis with our local Congressman.
Whether Pandora is out stumping for clean water, visiting the elderly, or sitting in a purse in the grocery store she is always making people smile.
Enclosed photo is Pandora attending a S. Fl Water Mngt District meeting where she clearly didn’t need to say much, her t-shirt said it all. She may be small but she is making a big difference.
