Persephone — Shelter
Last February our previous rescue dog had passed away and we were looking for a dog to keep our surviving dog company. We went to North Shore Animal League of America. and before I even saw Persephone, I knew she was for us. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in TN. She was only 19 weeks old! We don’t know her story before that but have a suspicion given the time period and her age that she might have been a Christmas present and for one reason or another wasn’t wanted. Persephone is the Goddess of Spring and Queen of the underworld, wife of Hades. A perfect balance between life and death and a fitting name for a dog who was going to help us heal after the loss of our other dog. Watching her grow has been amazing. She’s goofy and playful and a big mush. She loves her big dog sister who is actually half her size (Shorkie). She’s just an all over good girl and I can’t imagine life with out her.
