Stryker — Service
Stryker came into my life in February 2016 and ever since he’s walked in my every footstep. He spent 2 yrs of his life in a beautiful program being trained by veterans and students in Morgantown WV. Great and caring people helped us during our entire pairing process.
After our first 6 months adjusting, we’ve grabbed a camera, and hit the road together. Stryker and I have been able to speak with classrooms of at a schools and medical students at a major university about service dogs, and how I’ve benefited medically. Stryker and I, even got to go back to where he came from to speak with the veterans at a correctional facility. Thanking them for all they do in training service dogs.
Over the past 5 yrs we have also been blessed to share history (the best we could) of American Heroes at so many different National Events, while advocating for service dogs with anyone that would listen along the way.
For the last 3 years, we were honored to be credentialed together as White House PhotoJournalist/Correspondents.
Stryker has made a positive impact as a service dog all over the world. He was featured in a Japanese article educating millions, about how dogs are helping people with disabilities in the US.
Stryker is now 7.5 yrs old. He was recently diagnosed with cancer, stage 5 lymphoma/leukemia. We are so very grateful he is responding very well to ongoing treatments. It’s my time to walk in every step, but at his pace.
He is my hero, and my friend.
