Ali Mae — Shelter
Ali Mae was dumped outside a small town in Texas in March 2017 when she was just shy of 4 months old, abused, malnourished, and terrified of any human. Since we do not have an actual animal control officer, my grandmother & I agree to take lost animals to find their families or find them new, loving homes. I grow attached to all the pets that come into our care, but something was different about the little red pup that was scared of her own shadow. I spent days gaining her trust, and something with her just clicked. When I found out someone wanted to adopt her, my heart shattered into a million pieces, but that changed. On April 16th, my then-fiance and grandma surprised me with the bundle of pup I had fallen head-over-heels in love with. Since then, Ali and I have been basically inseparable. She goes to work for me, helps me tend the animals we foster, and is the best model with a bandana collection the size of Texas. She knows so many tricks, and loves showing them off for family & friends. She brings me all her toys when I’m sad, and is the most loyal dog I have ever met. She is, without a doubt, my best friend. On my darkest days, in the darkest of places, she is my light to brighter places.
