Bellatrix — Service
I never had any luck with continuous glucose monitors, most stopped working before I left the doctors office, so when I learned about diabetic alert dogs I was excited. Not only could I get a new best friend but she’d also keep me safe and healthy so I won’t have to worry about being in the hospital as much anymore. The cost of a pretrained dog was impossible to pay though so i looked into other options and learned I could train my own. I rescued Bella as a puppy and we bonded immediately. She never leaves my side. When I found Bella it felt like fate. I’ve always had dogs but never trained one before so I did allot of research and work and Bella worked just as hard to do well and enjoyed every minute. She caught on very quick and has been keeping a very close eye on me. I’ve always been one to get pretty serious lows at night which can be dangerous of I don’t wake up to eat. Even though I didn’t think to train Bella to wake me up or how to alert me when I’m laying down she managed to figure it out on her own and likely saved my life. My blood sugar was 38 which is the lowest I’ve ever had. I don’t know what would’ve happened of I didn’t have her.
