Capone — Emerging Hero
Capone is a two year old miniature pinscher and chihuahua mix. On March 15, 2017 a fire broke out in our house. We were all sleeping. Capone started barking which is not a normal thing for him because he doesn’t bark that often. I woke up and told him to be quiet because I didn’t want him to wake the baby. I called him and he normally comes to me. Instead he bolted for my kitchen and continued barking. I saw then that the kitchen was on fire. It was three minutes later that the smoke alarms went off and in five minutes half the house was gone. We got nine children, three adults and two dogs out of the house safely thanks to the extra three minutes Capone gave us by barking. My 18month old was closest to the fire. His bed was melted within the first few minutes but thanks to Capone my son was not in his bed at the time.
