Gina — Therapy
Gina was hit by a car when she was approx. 8 months old. At the time I was Volunteering with the rescue group that saved her (LIGRR). I’ve been a NYS Lic Vet Tech / Rescuer for over 35 years. Gina had spinal surgery but it was unsuccessful. I adopted her after that. She was severely underweight , paralyzed , bedsore , uti. I didn’t know anything about Gina until 2 months post op. The president of the rescue contacted me and asked me to foster her. One look at that sweet beautiful face and I fell In love!!! I adopted her immediately!!! I took her home and cared for all her medical needs. She was truly and inspiration to me! About a year after that I realized what and AMAZINGLY LOVABLE SWEET FUR BABY SHE IS and decided we should be a therapy team. We made it… Gina in her wheel chair and me OOOOO SO PROUD OF HER!!!! Gina has volunteered at the VA Hospital (Hospice and Disabled units). She and I would visit once a week. She was asked to come and lay in the beds of Veterans while they were passing away… She also volunteered with AHRC, Special Olympics, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts. She’s worked with the hearing impaired and has accompanied me to speak about Vet Medicine, Rescue, Career Day, TDI, how animals are NOT disposable and so much MORE . She was even the flower girl at my friend’s wedding 🙂 !!!! As you can see ….she has touched MANY HEARTS and have enriched MANY LIVES!!!!! I feel BLESSED to be her Mom and VERY GRATEFUL to share her with others!!!!!
