Linda M686 badge #60 — Law Enforcement / Arson

Charity Partner: Throw Away Dogs
Location: Staten Island, New York

The reason I’m nominating my dog for the Hero award is her everyday drive and motivation to come into work, New York Penn Station, in and around heavy crowds, searching people, bags, objects, and riding crowded trains in her quest to find explosives. It’s a game to her but one that she is good at, and unfortunately it is a real threat.

During training, problems are set in unexpected areas and hard to find places, which can be on moving trains, baggage rooms, vehicles, and waiting areas. K9 Linda has improved at such an accelerated rate over the years, amazing me with her independence and prey drive finding explosive training aids, giving me the complete trust and confidence in my dog while working her around the public and high threat assignments. Our recent deployments have included: Superbowl 50 in San Francisco, assisting the local Police Department with heavy crowds, and also the 2017 presidential Inauguration, working the transportation system. That’s why I’m nominating my beautiful girl K9 Linda.
