Smiley — Shelter
I nominate my shelter Corgi, Smiley. It was back in 2010 that I was suffering from the darkest depression that I had ever faced. I was confident that life had no meaning. Then I decided to stop being lonely and go find a best friend. I walked into fort Worth animal Care and control to see this little emaciated brown and white dog..who turned out to be a full-blooded Cardigan Welsh Corgi. I told her that she was a pretty girl and up went the ears and she grinned at me with her teeth. 10 years later she’s my ride or die. I can’t even begin to fathom life without her. She’s been with me through every trial and tribulation that I’ve faced over the last decade… Through a few relationships, through getting married, through my son dying at 18 days old, through my wife leaving me for another man and through all the stuff that has come my way since then… Smiley has remained a constant in my life and I owe a lot of my life to her. Clearly the best $53 I’ve ever spent. I love my old fat girl.
