Tabor — Therapy

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Tabor started in the therapy dog world at age 1. The year was 2007. He was volunteering at hospitals, schools, children and adults with a wide range of disabilities anywhere a therapy dog was asked to go. On June 26, 2012 the Waldo Canyon Fire jumped the lines and our Town was on fire. My son and I took Tabor and Snickers to where people were evacuated to bring a smile, hug and a wagging tail to residents that had no idea if their home was still standing. We visited the firefighters and first responders at their resting site. One of the firefighters asked me the name of our team and I said the Go Team. I thought we are ready to Go when called on, so we are called the Go Team. Tabor is the first dog on the team. Tabor started his life of service flying with children with autism and soldiers with PTSD. He was the first dog working United/ SkyWest Airlines Fantasy Flight. Tabor calmed the nerves of children and their parents before they boarded a plane to the North Pole. He was known as Santa’s ReinDog. Tabor has volunteered with the Gary Sinese Foundation Snowball Express, United States Air Force Academy, colleges. He has volunteered as a crisis/comfort dog to families and friends of suicides, shootings fires, floods. Tabor is known for his hats. He sports different ones for that extra smile. Tabor rides in a wagon now, but still volunteering at least twice a week. When he meets a child in a wheelchair they have a special bond. “He’s just like me”. Tabor is everyone’s BFF.
